Draco is a compact smart observatory that brings 90 mm, f/3.8 optics and integrated imaging controls into a single 5.5 kg package. It pairs a telephoto and wide-angle camera, active sensor cooling and built-in guiding so you can capture longer single frames and move from target finding to stacked outputs with less setup.

Draco uses a 90 mm aperture with a 340 mm focal length at f/3.8 and a 1/1.3-inch telephoto sensor. The faster optics and larger aperture collect more light than smaller smart scopes, helping faint nebulae and galaxies build up faster while keeping the system portable.

An independent guide sensor and real-time guiding corrections let Draco support single exposures up to 300 seconds. That capability reduces the number of short frames needed for faint targets and makes longer per-frame signal accumulation practical in a compact integrated system.

Draco's telephoto sensor supports active CMOS cooling to lower thermal noise during long sessions, and the system uses generated heat to help prevent lens dew. Built-in temperature sensors monitor the telephoto, wide-angle and guide cameras for better thermal management during extended imaging.

The telephoto CMOS can physically rotate ±90°, so you can change composition or compensate for field rotation without moving the whole scope. At the same time a 1/1.55-inch wide-angle camera runs for sky framing and simultaneous wide-field capture, useful for Milky Way shots, panoramas and context imaging.

Draco includes 128 GB internal storage and offers USB 3.0 Type-C plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for transfers. Images can be exported as FITS and TIFF for further processing, and Pro Mode exposes exposure, gain and filter control for advanced workflows.

No. Draco supports EQ Mode without requiring a separate wedge or equatorial mount. The DWARFLAB app guides you through positioning the telescope at the required angle for more stable tracking and deeper imaging.
Yes. Draco includes a standard tripod, but it can also be used with suitable third-party tripods. The mounting interface includes one 3/8" thread and two 1/4" threads. Any alternative tripod should be strong enough to safely support Draco's approximately 5.5 kg weight.
Yes. Draco can continue operating while connected to USB-C power, so the built-in battery does not limit longer imaging sessions. Maximum charging power is 36 W.
Draco includes 128 GB of internal storage. For reference, approximately 100 uncompressed 16-bit Bayer FITS frames at the 2 x 2 binned deep-sky resolution use roughly 2.4 to 2.5 GB.
No. Direct image capture to external USB storage is not currently supported. Files are stored internally and can then be transferred using USB 3.0 or the available network connection options.
Yes. Draco FITS files can be processed in applications such as Siril, PixInsight, AstroPixelProcessor and DeepSkyStacker. The telephoto camera uses a BGGR Bayer pattern.
Yes. The SHO Edition is designed for true SII, H-alpha and OIII capture rather than simply remapping colours. Draco uses its H-alpha + OIII and SII + OIII filter combinations to build datasets suitable for Hubble-palette-style processing.
The telephoto camera can automatically capture dark frames and apply them during live stacking. The wide-angle camera uses its filter and ND mechanism to block incoming light when dark-frame capture is required.
Draco uses its built-in guide scope and real-time guiding corrections to support long single-frame exposures of up to 300 seconds. This allows faint deep-sky detail to accumulate more effectively in each frame.
Pro Mode provides more direct control over imaging settings such as exposure time, gain, filters and other capture parameters, making Draco suitable for users who want more than a fully automated workflow.
Draco's telephoto sensor can physically rotate by up to ±90°. This allows greater freedom when composing an image and also helps compensate for field rotation during tracking.
Astronomy modes include Deep Sky, Milky Way, Star Trails, Solar and Lunar imaging. Draco also supports general imaging modes such as Photo, Video, Panorama, Burst and Time-lapse.
Yes. Draco includes USB 3.0 Type-C connectivity and can also support wired Ethernet through a compatible USB-to-Ethernet adapter. These options can provide faster data transfer and a more stable connection for remote operation.
Yes. DWARFLAB is developing PhotonLink remote-control functionality for Draco, allowing the telescope to be controlled through the DWARFLAB app. Some remote-operation features are still being finalized.
The currently confirmed package includes the Draco smart observatory, aluminium-alloy tripod, USB-C data cable and cleaning cloth. DWARFLAB has also indicated that a foam-lined travel carrying case will be available, although final package details and images are still being confirmed.
DWARFLAB currently advises that new Draco orders may require approximately three months for production and shipment. AstroGear will update the expected local delivery window as more information becomes available.
No. DWARFLAB has discontinued the Draco Standard Edition. The SHO Edition is now the Draco model available going forward.
