The Askar 140APO offers a compelling 140mm aperture for astronomers who want significant light-gathering power without the bulk of larger observatories. With a 980mm focal length and f/7 focal ratio, it strikes an ideal balance for capturing detailed deep-sky images and enjoying high-contrast visual observations.
The optical system features a triplet air-spaced apochromatic lens design that includes one piece of ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass. This ensures excellent correction of chromatic aberration, delivering sharp, color-faithful images.
To maximize portability, the 140APO features a retractable lens tube. This reduces the shortest overall length to just 735mm (870mm extended), with an OTA weight of only 9.2kg. This makes it exceptionally transportable for an instrument of its aperture, easily fitting into the included Oxford cloth carrying case.
The retractable tube design allows strictly visual observers to attach binoviewers directly without additional optical correctors. For astrophotography, the telescope supports optional 1.0x flatteners and 0.8x reducers (sold separately) to ensure flat fields for large sensors. Standard 2\" and 1.25\" rear adapters are included for versatile connectivity.
The 140APO comes well-equipped with tube rings, a sturdy handle, and an Askar 300mm Losmandy-style dovetail plate. The CNC-machined tube is finished in ivory white with stylish orange accents. A large, precision focuser with a 360° rotator ensures accurate focusing and framing for any target.
