The Sky Rover 80 APO PRO F/6 is a compact apochromatic refractor built around a classic air-spaced triplet optical design with a Super ED glass element. It is designed to deliver strong control of chromatic and spherical aberration while remaining portable, mechanically refined, and well suited to both visual use and astrophotography.
Sky Rover states that the 2024 version continues the classic air-spaced triplet APO design and that each telescope undergoes artificial star testing and laser interferometry. The aim is consistent optical quality with strong aberration control and dependable high-magnification performance.
The 2024 version replaces the earlier rotating focuser arrangement with a new rear-integrated field rotator for smoother and more precise framing during imaging. Sky Rover also adds the same lightweight dual tube rings and mini handle design used on the smaller 70 APO PRO, giving the telescope a more compact and streamlined overall structure.
One of the standout features of the 80 APO PRO is its integrated rear CAA, which provides smoother framing adjustments and includes an M63 x 1 threading interface for field flattener compatibility. A hidden front flange plate is also built into the design, allowing fine focal plane adjustment when needed during photography.
The tube rings, handle, and dovetail plate have all been redesigned with weight reduction in mind, while still providing useful mounting points for accessories. Sky Rover also includes a soft carry bag as standard, making the telescope easier to transport and store.
