The Askar 80PHQ is the most portable entry in the PHQ family, offering a high-performance flat-field imaging solution in a compact package. With an 80mm aperture, 600mm focal length, and f/7.5 focal ratio, it is an ideal grab-and-go instrument for astrophotographers who demand quality without the weight.
Inheriting the advanced optical design of its larger siblings, the 80PHQ features a quadruplet air-spaced lens structure with two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements. This design ensures excellent chromatic aberration control and a naturally flat field across a 44mm image circle, eliminating the need for a separate field flattener.
Weighing just 3.9kg (4.7kg fully equipped) and measuring only 450mm with the dew shield contracted, the 80PHQ is perfect for travel and use on lightweight tracking mounts. Despite its size, it maintains the premium build quality of the series with CNC-machined components and a durable, textured finish.
The telescope is designed for simplicity: just focus and shoot. No complex back-focus calculations are needed. For those wanting a wider field, it supports an optional 0.76x reducer. It also excels as a high-quality visual instrument, compatible with standard diagonals and eyepieces.
The 80PHQ comes with a robust 3-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with a 360° rotator, a comprehensive set of photo adapters (M68, M54, M48), a handle, tube rings, and a 300mm Vixen-style dovetail plate.
