Tiny Scope, Serious Capability

The Askar 50P is a compact astrograph that punches well above its size. With a 50mm aperture, 190mm focal length, and a fast f/3.8 focal ratio, it is designed for astrophotographers who want a lightweight, highly portable refractor for capturing sweeping nebulae, rich star fields, and wide-field deep-sky scenes.

Sharp Petzval Optics with SD Glass

At the heart of the 50P is a quadruplet Petzval APO design that includes one piece of SD glass for improved colour correction. This optical configuration helps produce sharp, well-controlled stars across the field while the built-in flat-field design means you do not need to add a separate flattener for imaging.

Ideal for Wide-Field Imaging

With APS-C coverage and optimisation for 1-inch sensors, the 50P is a great match for many popular astronomy cameras. Its 190mm focal length is ideal for larger emission nebulae, Milky Way star clouds, dark dust regions, and other expansive targets that benefit from a wider field of view. The fast f/3.8 focal ratio also helps you gather signal quickly, making the most of valuable imaging time under clear skies.

The rear connection supports a 50-65mm range, with 55mm recommended, making it easy to build a practical imaging train. The included M48 adapter also features an M48×0.75 filter thread for added flexibility when configuring your setup.

More Than Just an Astrograph

The 50P is not only an excellent wide-field imaging scope, but also a very attractive option as a premium guide scope. Its compact size, solid optical design, and quality construction make it well suited to guiding duties on larger imaging rigs, especially for users who want something more capable and refined than a basic finder-style guide scope.

Built for Portable Setups

One of the biggest advantages of the 50P is just how easy it is to carry and mount. Measuring only 147mm with the dew shield retracted and 182mm extended, it fits comfortably into compact travel setups and lightweight mounts. At just 1.4kg including the tube ring and dovetail plate, it is a natural fit for grab-and-go astrophotography.

Whether you want a fast little refractor for wide-field imaging or a compact, premium guide scope for a larger telescope, the Askar 50P is a versatile and highly appealing option.
