Vaonis Hestia is a compact smartphone-powered telescope designed for simple visual exploration and basic astrophotography. Instead of using a built-in camera or electronics, Hestia directs light through its optical system into your smartphone camera, while the Gravity by Vaonis app helps guide you to suitable targets.
Hestia combines a 30 mm objective with a patented six-lens optical system arranged in three groups. Once your smartphone is aligned with the eyepiece, the phone becomes the imaging and display system, allowing you to observe and capture the Moon, Sun and selected bright deep-sky objects.
The optical system provides 25x magnification with a 1.8° field of view, making it suitable for close-up views of lunar detail, sunspots and selected bright astronomical targets. Hestia can also be used during the day for distant scenery and general observation.
The Gravity app for iOS and Android helps with smartphone alignment, target selection and pointing. Choose an object from the catalogue and follow the on-screen guidance to move Hestia toward the correct area of the sky.
Hestia contains no internal electronics and requires no built-in battery. The optical system works entirely through the user's smartphone, reducing complexity and removing the need to charge the telescope itself before an observing session.
Hestia supports several observing modes through the Gravity app. Night mode is intended for the Moon and bright deep-sky objects, while scenery mode can be used for terrestrial observation. Solar observing is also supported when Hestia is used with the appropriate Vaonis solar filter.
Measuring 17 x 24 x 5.5 cm and weighing approximately 850 g, Hestia is compact enough to carry easily for travel or casual observing sessions. Its optical design is also weather-resistant and built for regular outdoor use.
