Explore Poseidon-M Pro
The Poseidon-M Pro is a cooled mono camera built around an APS-C Sony IMX571 sensor for high-resolution deep-sky work. Its combination of 26 megapixels, native 16-bit digitization and a two-stage cooling system is aimed at enthusiasts who want detailed, low-noise narrowband and broadband images.

Sensor: IMX571 mono
Format: 23.5 x 15.7 mm (APS-C)
Max Resolution: 6252 x 4176 (26 MP)
Pixel Size: 3.76 μm
The camera uses a Sony IMX571 monochrome APS-C sensor with 26 megapixels at 6252 x 4176 and 3.76 μm pixels. The larger APS-C format gives a 28.3 mm diagonal, providing more field coverage and sampling flexibility compared with smaller chips.
A two-stage TEC cooling system can reach up to 40 °C below ambient, cutting thermal noise for long exposures and making faint details easier to extract. The cooler draws up to 12V at 3A max, so plan for a capable 12V supply when imaging.
A four-point rear tilt plate lets you correct sensor tilt at each corner, reducing field curvature and improving corner stars. The design includes a high-density sponge shading pad to block light leakage from the tilt plate area.
A 512 MB DDR3 buffer stabilizes data transfer and helps prevent frame drops even on slower USB connections. The camera's native 16-bit ADC preserves fine tonal steps, which benefits heavy stretching and narrowband workflows.
Player One implements Sony STARVIS back-illuminated pixel technology for improved low-light response. The product specifications list a QE peak of approximately 80% and quoted readout noise ranging from about 3.9 to 1.0 electrons depending on settings.
Push the frontiers of mono imaging with the Player One Poseidon-M Pro — a high-end cooled camera made for advanced narrowband and deep-sky capture.
Sony IMX571 APS-C CMOS Sensor:
26 megapixels (6252 x 4176), 3.76 µm pixel size, ~28.3 mm diagonal mono sensor.
Deep Cooling System:
Dual-stage TEC cooling achieves delta-T of up to 40 °C below ambient, minimizing thermal noise.
Rear 4-Point Sensor Tilt Plate:
Precise tilt adjustment at four corners reduces field curvature. Includes high-density sponge shading pad to prevent side-light leakage.
512 MB DDR3 Buffer:
Stabilizes data transmission, prevents frame drops, and lowers readout noise-even on USB 2.0 ports.
STARVIS Back-Illuminated CMOS:
High quantum efficiency (~91%), excellent low-light sensitivity, ideal for narrowband filters.
Native 16-Bit ADC:
Enables 65,536 discrete output levels for smoother tonal transitions and precise grayscale data.
High Frame Rate Performance:
Up to ~15 fps in RAW8 and ~7 fps in RAW16 at full resolution (6252x4176) over USB 3.0.
Non-Amp-Glow Design:
Minimal glow artifacts on long exposures, producing cleaner images and reducing the need for dark frames.
Robust Mechanical Design:
Octagonal body made from frosted black and red anodized surfaces, with round chamfered edges for both durability and style.
