The Askar SQA70 builds on the acclaimed SQA series formula with a 70mm aperture that significantly boosts light gathering while maintaining exceptional portability. This quintuplet Petzval astrograph is purpose-built for astrophotography, delivering sharp, well-corrected images across the full 44mm image circle.
The SQA70 employs a quintuplet Petzval APO design featuring two pieces of ED glass - an upgrade from the smaller SQA55. This optical formula virtually eliminates chromatic aberration while producing a natively flat field that requires no additional flattener. Simply connect your camera and start imaging.
With its 336mm focal length and fast f/4.8 focal ratio, the SQA70 excels at gathering photons from faint deep-sky objects. The focal length provides an excellent field of view for popular targets like the Orion Nebula, California Nebula, and large galaxy groups, while the speed keeps exposure times manageable.
The flexible back focus range of 37-68mm (55mm recommended) accommodates virtually any camera and filter wheel combination. Multiple rear adapter options (M42/M48/M54) with integrated M48x0.75 filter threading provide connection flexibility.
At just 2.68kg for the OTA and 3.5kg fully equipped with tube ring and dovetail, the SQA70 travels easily to dark sites. The retractable dew shield reduces the total length from 372mm to just 332mm for packing. An Oxford cloth carrying case is included for protected transport.
For astrophotographers ready to step up from smaller apertures without sacrificing portability, the SQA70 strikes an excellent balance of light-gathering power and practical size.
