The Wanderer ETA M54 is an ultra-thin electronic tilt and backfocus adjuster designed to help astrophotographers correct sensor tilt with precision, repeatability, and remote control.

Traditional tilt adjustment can be slow, frustrating, and difficult to perform accurately in the dark. The Wanderer ETA replaces manual tilter screws with three independent adjustment motors and three high-precision encoders, allowing fine electronic adjustment of the camera’s focal plane.

When installed directly in front of a compatible OAG or camera using screws, the ETA occupies only 5 mm of backfocus or focuser travel. This makes it possible, in many imaging trains, to maintain the common 55 mm backfocus distance while adding automated tilt correction.

The 1.2 mm adjustment range, 0.3 micron motor resolution, and positioning accuracy of up to 2 microns make the ETA especially useful for fast focal-ratio systems and large-format cameras where small alignment errors can cause stretched stars in the corners of the frame.

The Wanderer ETA is controlled using WandererEmpire software and supports integration with N.I.N.A. for automated tilt adjustment workflows. It is powered directly by USB, so no separate 12 V power input is required.

Important installation note: the ETA is intended to be installed close to the camera, filter wheel, or OAG. It is not designed to be placed in front of heavy field flatteners, reducers, or focusers. The total equipment weight behind the ETA should not exceed 3 kg.
