The WandererAstro FETA M92 combines a high-precision motorized focuser and electronically controlled three-point tilt adjuster in a single compact unit. Its three independently driven adjustment points can operate individually for sensor tilt correction or synchronously for precise focusing, allowing one device to perform two critical imaging-train functions.
Designed for advanced astrophotography systems, the FETA M92 provides 4 mm of adjustment travel, extremely fine positioning control and a payload capacity of up to 8 kg. Despite its capabilities, the body weighs only approximately 750 g and requires just 15 mm between its two optical mounting surfaces.
The three-point independent adjustment system allows the FETA M92 to electronically correct imaging-plane tilt without requiring manual adjustment of conventional tilt plates. Integration with NINA and WandererEmpire enables automated tilt adjustment, helping simplify the process of achieving consistent corner-to-corner star quality across large camera sensors.
When all three adjustment mechanisms operate synchronously, the FETA M92 functions as a precision motorized focuser. It provides 4 mm of travel with an effective positioning capability of 0.2 μm, allowing extremely fine focus control for demanding astrophotography applications.
The FETA M92 has a maximum physical thickness of only 20 mm, while recessed M92 female threads on both sides reduce the required optical spacing between mounting surfaces to just 15 mm. This makes it particularly valuable in imaging systems where back-focus space is limited.
When combined with a WandererRotator, the complete focuser and rotator assembly has a total thickness of approximately 35 mm, providing both focusing and camera rotation while consuming remarkably little optical back focus.
With a rated payload capacity of up to 8 kg, measured with the imaging train's centre of gravity positioned 100 mm from the FETA M92, the unit can support most full-frame and medium-format astrophotography imaging trains.
A fixed mechanical zero position with automatic zero detection provides a reliable physical reference point for the focusing system. This is particularly useful for unattended and remote observatory installations, allowing the FETA M92 to automatically establish its reference position when required.
The fully enclosed mechanical structure incorporates enhanced light-leak prevention, preventing direct external light from passing through the device and into the optical path.
Both sides of the FETA M92 feature M92 x 1 female threads as standard. Two included adapters provide additional interface combinations, allowing either side to be converted to M92 male, M85 female or M85 male connectivity for easier integration into different imaging systems.
Dedicated adapter options are available for systems including Moravian C3, C4 and C5 cameras, Takahashi Epsilon telescopes and other optical configurations. Additional mounting solutions are also being developed by WandererAstro.
The FETA M92 is controlled through WandererAstro's WandererEmpire software, providing control and visualisation of the focusing and tilt-adjustment system. Integration with NINA enables automatic tilt adjustment, while ASCOM focuser support allows the focusing system to integrate with compatible astrophotography software.
