The Vaonis Vespera Dual Band Filter is designed to improve deep-sky imaging by selectively transmitting the H-alpha and O-III wavelengths commonly emitted by nebulae while suppressing much of the unwanted background light.
By isolating the H-alpha wavelength at 656.3 nm and O-III at 500.7 nm, the filter increases contrast between emission structures and the background sky. This can reveal finer detail in emission nebulae, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants, particularly when imaging from light-polluted locations.
Each transmission band has a bandwidth of approximately 12 nm, providing a useful balance between narrowband contrast enhancement and sufficient light transmission for the Vespera imaging system.
The filter is engineered for use at the full aperture of the telescope without reducing its effective optical diameter. An integrated electronic board allows the Vespera to detect the installed filter and automatically adapt its observation and image-processing parameters.
